Kurt Wilson, Ph.D.
President

Kurt leads the EffectX team with a broad scope of non-profit evaluation and consulting experience. As a consultant, he’s provided evaluation to organizations ranging from local community initiatives to the World Food Program. His background in professional philanthropy sheds light on interests of donors, and significant experience in fundraising and marketing gives him insider knowledge of non-profit organizational needs.

Kurt’s education includes a BS in Economics from The Colorado College, a Diploma in International Development from the University of London, and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Evaluation from Western Michigan University. He is an Affiliate Faculty Member at Regis University, teaching in the Masters of Development Practice program.

Kurt’s international evaluation experience includes projects in  Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Uganda, El Salvador, Kenya and London as well as site visits of World Vision programs in thirteen countries.

Andrea Nelson Trice, Ph.D.
Lead Consultant

Andrea holds a doctorate in Higher Education from the University of Michigan, emphasizing organizational behavior. She brings significant experience as an internal evaluator, external evaluator, faculty member, nonprofit board member, consultant, and author. These varied experiences have honed a broad set of skills and sharpened her ability to gather valuable data through surveys, interviews, observation, and focus groups.

Andrea specializes in helping organizations gather actionable data and wrestle with the implications of collected data, including projects that have centered on hope, dignity, and spiritual growth. Andrea recently assumed an Affiliate Faculty position at Regis University, co-teaching with Kurt the qualitative research and evaluation classes.

Aaron Kates, Ph.D.
Lead Consultant

Aaron holds a PhD in Evaluation from Western Michigan University. Building on a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Geography degrees, Aaron's doctoral studies focused on the application of evaluation theory and methods to real-world social and ecological problems. 

Aaron's work experience includes clinical psychotherapy, wilderness management and natural resources, refugee resettlement, and child welfare. He has eleven years' experience in program evaluation serving clients such as the WK Kellogg Foundation, Calvin University, the State of Michigan Department of Energy, and countless community-based organizations.

Aaron's passion lies in designing accessible and useful evaluation products that empower those whose work seeks to make a difference. His broad content knowledge and methodological diversity enable him to apply unique evaluation solutions to unique programs and clients.

Lori D. Wilson, M.A.
Lead Consultant

Lori’s experience in the non-profit sector includes group facilitation and program design. A trained and skilled facilitator, her work combines strategic program design with community-building to help organizations flourish.

With a particular focus on collaborative projects, Lori specializes in equipping teams to launch new initiatives. She established the EffectX grant-writing team to provide services to a wide range of non-profit organizations. Her many years of volunteer and board service reflect her long-standing commitment to work for both personal and societal change.

Lori holds a BA in Spanish Literature from the Colorado College, and an MA in theology from King’s College London. Fluent in Spanish, she was raised in Argentina and continues to travel extensively.

Anne Modler
Consultant

Anne has an extensive background in project management and assessments with a focus on early childhood education. She worked with Project Find in Michigan to bring community cohesion to service providers and school districts, and with BayState Health in Massachusetts to manage a two-year qualitative evaluation of the most pressing health concerns for children birth to 18 years.

Anne was also the lead consultant on a needs assessment and asset mapping project for children with special needs in Michigan. She recently completed an assessment of early childhood education in Colorado, including conducting interviews with over 70 key informants working in social services, philanthropy, and the nonprofit sector.

Katherine George
Consultant

Katherine brings significant professional experience in development and humanitarian assistance, specializing in food security and monitoring and evaluation.

As a consultant, she has designed and undertaken large scale, global evaluations for United Nations Agencies (WFP, UNICEF) focused on humanitarian and development programmes, as well as data analysis and community regional planning in Northwest Colorado. Katherine’s significant field experience includes serving as the M&E Programme Officer, World Food Programme, Ethiopia.

She holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Colorado and an MA in Governance and Development from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex.
